ABOUT THE ARTIST
Saki Sato lives and works in New York City, where she attended the Cooper Union School of Art. Her practice consists of tragicomic short videos and playful multi-media sculptural works. Her videos often feature uncommon characters, such as a wine cork or a fly, to explore narratives from humble perspectives. Her sculptures use a language of symbols to apply meaning to groups of objects and images. She has participated in residencies at the Center for Contemporary Art in Kitakyushu, Japan, The Wassaic Project, and ChaNorth. She has screened her videos internationally in France, Germany, China and Japan, and regularly screens work in the New York area. Her sculptures have appeared in several group shows in New York, Philadelphia, Japan, and an outdoor sculpture park in Dallas, Texas.
