ABOUT THE ARTIST
Lucha Rodríguez is a Venezuelan-Panamanian artist whose work is a transitional tool to open ourselves to experiences and levels of bodily and mental awareness. Through a technique she coins “knife drawing”, Rodríguez uses woodblock tools and Exact-o blades to carve knicks into Arches paper. The resulting scale-like shapes are meticulously structured to create complex abstract compositions that rely on light to expose their final patterns. The work gives form and structure to ethereal relationships between us and our environment. It challenges perception and dimensionality through distortion and illusion. Rodríguez received her MFA in Printmaking from The Savannah College of Art and Design, and her BFA in Graphic Design from The Art Institute of Atlanta. She has exhibited globally with solo and group shows throughout the U.S., India, Mexico, China, and France. Rodríguez currently lives and works in Atlanta, Georgia.
